Professional Development Series: To Be or Not to Be...On a Nonprofit Board, presented by Young Professionals of Fond du Lac (YPF)

Young Professionals of Fond du Lac (YPF) is excited to offer another event in our Professional Development Series program, designed to enhance the skill set of our members. Join us for a presentation by Christa Williams, Executive Director of Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners for her training "To Be or Not to Be...on a Nonprofit Board."

Nonprofit boards are essential to creating thriving caring communities for all people. Board members provide passion, vision, skills, leadership, and action to meaningful causes that would otherwise not be provided. Essentially, they need you!

In this session, we will discuss:
- Aligning passion with serving
- The legalities of serving on a nonprofit board. Yes, there are rules that board members need to follow.
- You have been asked to be on a board, what questions should you ask?
- You have heard that serving on a non-profit board is a good way to give back, what boards need the most from you.

Light refreshments will be provided and are included in the cost of your registration.

Cost: $15 for Young Professionals, $20 for SHRM Members, and $25 for general admission.

Presenter:

As executive director for the past 12 years, Christa Williams brings servant leadership to life as the operational leader of Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners (Sophia), learning facilitator and chief strategist. With more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in corporate, non-profit and educational settings, Christa has been mentored, guided and inspired by the foremost scholars in the servant leadership movement today including Sophia's founder, Ginny Gilmore, Ann McGee-Cooper, Duane Trammel, Don Frick, Tom Thibodeau and more. She takes inspiration from the work of Robert K. Greenleaf, Peter Block, Peter Senge, Parker Palmer, Dawna Markova, and Margaret Wheatley to name just a few.

Christa earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from UW-Oshkosh with Masters of Servant Leadership courses at Viterbo University. She has additional training and certifications in the areas of servant leadership, compassionate listening, and group facilitation. She is dedicated to leading with a servant™s heart and fiengaging and igniting the potentialfl in people to live together as a caring community. Christa lives near Fond du Lac, Wisconsin with her husband and two daughters.
