University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Career & Professional Development staff will share best practices for engaging with and recruiting college students. Student panelists will share what they look for in jobs/internships, recruitment feedback, and personal experiences at internship sites.

Participants will:

understand what college students value in campus recruiting practices
hear from UWO students about their experiences at internship sites
hear feedback about what the students need as they transition to professional roles
learn best practices in engaging and recruiting college students

Presenter: Chelsy Cegielski and UWO Interns

Chelsy is the Assistant Director of Career & Professional Development at UW Oshkosh. She has 20+ years of experience providing career advice and job search strategies to college students, recent graduates, and job seekers. She enjoys life design, CliftonStrenghts, resume development, interview coaching, job search strategies, internship development, and connecting students with career opportunities.

As a Career Advisor, she helps students gather career information, occupational research, and tools to be successful in multiple industries. She understands that an internship/job search can be scary, exciting, and stressful and supports students through this process. Her goal is to help students find rewarding positions that match their skills and interests.

As an Employer Relations Manager, she helps employers understand best practices in recruiting students and emerging talent. Her goal is to help employers find talented student and young alumni talent to fill their internships and entry level roles.

Career & Professional Development collaborates with hundreds of employers in the region and nationwide to provide students with valuable internships, career fairs, networking, and development opportunities. Their programs emphasize the career-ready skill sets employers need in today’s diverse working environments. They use an industry focused advising model and are members of NACE.

UWO ranks high on affordability and value offering more than 180 student organizations and nearly 200 majors, minors, and emphases to the 10,000+ enrolled students. Of these students, 44% identify as first-generation and 79% of students who apply for financial aid receive it.
